It’s Week 1 of National Preparedness Month, and one of the best ways to be prepared is knowing how to get information. If a disaster is on its way or has already occurred, it’s important to get accurate information from authorities about what is going on, what you need to do, and whether help is coming sooner or later.
Government agencies provide this information in a number of ways, from wireless emergency alerts on your phone, to emergency sirens, and even NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (on the emergency radio that should be in your emergency kit!).
Through its ready.gov site, FEMA provides information about these communication tools and how you can make sure you are getting alerts and information when disaster strikes!
